By using grid systems that are consistently used in film and advertising posters the assignment was to research and show an understanding of them in order to produce our very own design. The image should contain a hierarchy of focal points whilst reflecting the subject area I'm studying. Here it is then:</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEFhuDHyPQjpBoKSx2E1r6ikHR3pfGC77HaVkJ-9Qhm5FhSvNGGOE_aCie0LTO-y9LDisVg3ZMpSwwqf1ugetX5HWAvI52MNyYwdk3I1FRArq6bG-dl9heT6cwnKNClNHGBPnOex1O/s1600/27_Ultimate_Image.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 283px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEFhuDHyPQjpBoKSx2E1r6ikHR3pfGC77HaVkJ-9Qhm5FhSvNGGOE_aCie0LTO-y9LDisVg3ZMpSwwqf1ugetX5HWAvI52MNyYwdk3I1FRArq6bG-dl9heT6cwnKNClNHGBPnOex1O/s400/27_Ultimate_Image.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5603378930405935090" /></a>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-87626489795634598192011-05-05T13:38:00.000-07:002011-05-05T13:46:48.745-07:00A great blog to check out is this guy Kingston's work. There's some exceptional<div>amount of greatly detailed concept ideas. The work shows off his understanding </div><div>of design, perspective, attitude an shows him capable of sketching all sorts of </div><div>designs from humans to beats to aliens. An important part in the animation process the character </div><div>expression is conveying emotion and what the character feels at the </div><div>time. It works by creating an over exaggerated expression in order </div><div>for the viewer to associate with what the character is feeling . By having Frazer quite arched over and cautious looking throughout the beginning of the scene it enabled visual difference in the characters.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw1DC_2YP6JCvjBa0Nr6OlbUBzVYTl0rdf-BKQjmgMUi0J7KgGCh1tfrE9AI_vQiZ7xcm08QcExfA1n3hxUYA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div>Again with more polishing on the break downs and the inclusion of more precise overshoot the animation as as a whole is nearly there. Just more polishing of the body animation throughout and a little bit of work sorting out the end and I think I'll be there :).</div><div><br /></div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-84215262561904206912011-04-29T11:06:00.000-07:002011-04-29T11:26:13.625-07:00Restaurant Scene - 1st Pass.<div><br /></div><div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzOPdgSACMyx3-4Z--YoBP3VCSGBCzhxhFvl4bqGHBXod_6kZeM7bdBToobEuOXxsYb7b0WuT5fWm2IKA-8qA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div>With some initial curving done and the timing sorted out from blocking mode I was left with the preview above. There needed to be perhaps some more holds as overall the animation was flowing at a fairy constant pace but for now this was enough.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzTk6AR5v7PHutrwtUueOAqGTtk6A74WabhBsK6F-9iWJeZMRKFy5kpUS3R4blYgIosFfIBftFCL4TxuSrXPQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div>With the 2nd look at the 1st pass I went back through the whole timing cleaning it up and adding in etc posing. I added in some kind of ignorant looking around the restaurant character attributes at the beginning of the scene as if to say he's lost in whats going on around him rather than paying attention to his date, so making him seem dis-interested. Despite getting confronted on lets say his disability of irritable bowl syndrome I tried to maintain a pushover sort of persona so he doesn't really get angry. Using little eye contact my hope was to achieve an intimated fearful look.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzPbaT0RmG5-FYaOcEhuG29-ahIP4D8gAdiNq_2Yr-8Lx5luVOlxJB2Guy1twIpx443pXuKleq3PAu_On_uSA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div>Claire then was totally opposite in character approach. She was to be confrontational and disgusted by her date. In her mind she was far better than him and was looking for a anyway to show her disgust.</div><div><br /></div><div>I tried to have the scene start of quite calm and build up the anger as she begins to make her point clear. The poses/actions I found where not overly animated as I wanted a really subtle but effective piece. I believed that there was a good foundation with the blocking and with lip sync, breakdowns and expressions the piece could go quite far.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzB5ttQpmzGqo8H8J4GxDVtM4-rF0UlxLCX0_G9SKqswYS4DTTlOSGNfFoB3ViKtPCbT7XTJfPnvDPuScmvWw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Not much changed pose wise with this preview but the composition here shows how the scene could potentially be displayed.</div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-75842880420126505662011-04-29T08:51:00.000-07:002011-04-29T09:27:07.084-07:00Robotic Concept artistsI've Just been looking at some concept art pieces of robots while waiting for previews in maya and came across a whole range of first-class designs. In order to to make her anger believable the poses needed to suit her anger and portray why she's angry.....the result is she's eating a chocolate bar whilst aggressively payzing back an forth as she tells her partner of her problems. I believe with the hip motion I've captured her divalent personality then with the rash expressive hands actions you can tell of her frustration. The end is a bit soft an perhaps needed to be more in your face....</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxDt_4JTLyYmIbhUsrkh6bnX7jAq_6A0ru8dc7je8I1NxJB_GDMPbLLew2CZhCWpvIYXCW24p9coXKw3qrJtg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Not too much has changed here but the end sequence involves the character following through with the throw coming towards screen. This follows by a huff an looking away from her partner as if to say she has no time for him. With that included it means that the characters anger seems more thorough as she sort of attacks her partner. So far its got some elements of attitude but needs to be re-worked in places.</div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-79989081806016182382011-04-29T08:13:00.001-07:002011-04-29T08:19:02.420-07:00How to train your dragon<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJH2PYJ8skwJfB8h_2sjHjruCTaoFfrn4fCqHV43I48rKQowhSRaHN38nGCXziAhOor5vNsHOZVV-4Q5oCzB4byPLy7kEMLSlsya4MNOxSZGCPBnt_QziaQdX69IdiBKi-l8K0djot/s1600/10+How+to+train+yor+dragon.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJH2PYJ8skwJfB8h_2sjHjruCTaoFfrn4fCqHV43I48rKQowhSRaHN38nGCXziAhOor5vNsHOZVV-4Q5oCzB4byPLy7kEMLSlsya4MNOxSZGCPBnt_QziaQdX69IdiBKi-l8K0djot/s400/10+How+to+train+yor+dragon.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601024158251069234" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><object style="height: 390px; width: 640px" width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qHUhygdAZIw?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qHUhygdAZIw?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object></div><div><br /></div>Watched this film earlier this week, somthing to defiantly watch. A great job done by dreamworks, perhaps the best film I've seen come from them. Absolute loved the vikings characters especially Hiccups dad Stoick, the costume, voice, animation all was superb. Great film!Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-32002540386694390542011-04-29T07:45:00.000-07:002011-04-29T08:08:19.067-07:00Moving Scene - Refining the animation.<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzIq9FJijr_qjnm-tTg8yRpaAGhM5NNeqRG7f7eHGsax2yCP9BBz833qmh9ASwhxnb0xkRcwa7TWirnIx0Ysg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div>With the start of some real refining and in between keys coming into place the piece again steps up in believability. The use of overlap, arms bouncing back onto bodies along with offsetting keys its now when the animation truly comes into play and the real breakdown beings. I still need to crucially add slow-ins and bounce backs so when the character hits a pose he/she doesn't seem to hit a brick wall. All in all theres some good amount of overlap in parts and some weight going on with the box which is working but still quite a bit of work to do!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dznlayP3qqQei6dpNCZgOtxTxSgLXrxgYkJFEbpAbR6oJHBHD62zElBRoeoRpiHXjSMgR3fqYdG0lIF5RnfOA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>By the painful process of exporting the animation as jpg's and then exporting through premiere pro the audio and poses/lip sync finally match up. So with this adding more realism via selling key pose hits and lip sync, the piece once more steps up a gear. Having added slow-ins to the piece there is very little frozen movement which is nice too see as the animation is constantly flowing. With that in mind these slow-ins need to be worked a bit further as well as some breakdowns on James in order to make some actions seem less key frame - key frame.</div><div><br /></div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-30052552599431636802011-04-29T07:33:00.000-07:002011-04-29T07:45:26.683-07:00Moving Scene - 2nd Pass<div><br /></div><div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwAKj4sk5E9-ln_RTbBrjdxrNVDD4G5rU9WzOVixXPmwFvZasKxZFDUgsdhCS7IPvFHI5ECcpuu-I1IJlJPRQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div>The next process was to then add yet more refining of the poses and timing whilst adding more believability. To edge this forward I've always believed that adding in the lip sync and facial expressions early tend to help me with the animation. Not only does it bring the piece to life but also gives something to look at when the characters in a holding position. It helps me then understand how holding poses are working and whether they need to be refined or binned. Not to mention some constraint problems with the hands as I'm sure you can see but those where pushed aside for now....</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw6dtjdsVKMIJgQnHLsMyfMrBXyG9Tad5N5Jvwun_Zg7_rbUo4IjqHxy3L_YqG5XWGVx83iKsYcElhLJh6i8g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>With a good 1st pass of lip sync done my next stage was looking back at the animation. Again more in-between key frame's where required to breakdown the animation to fundamentally make the piece more appealing and realistic. Despite still having a very twinned pose on James and some timing to sort out with him at the end of the scene I was achieving noticeable progress with thoughts of happiness yet thoughts of what I had to change next.</div><div><br /></div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-40959362001982554702011-04-29T07:22:00.000-07:002011-04-29T07:32:52.609-07:00Moving Scene - 1st Pass<div>.....so next came my 1st pass. For me this involves putting the keys into auto-curve mode and making sure the motion of animation is smooth and to the rite timing. It enables myself to observe whether the transition from key frame's need to be speed up or slow down but moving keys about the timeline.</div><div><br /></div><div>With alterations made on timing I also begun a brief lip sync trial on Dave to try understand how he might come across to the audience.</div><div><br /></div><div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxQ8cNgexsxS1eB6hOVxnsnh4Q-wBYU4EHHexj27zKQPFd2Q5ZGmRwCKkmUM35xGQGp8EjV9-DyTO_5c959bg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Again with some refining of poses and timing the piece became more refined and was starting to take shape....at least with Dave's character who I'd worked most on. By altering the lip sync and adding facial expressions to Dave's character I could more throughly take into account how the flow of the animation was progressing.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxaBunC1qLkLn0JgUr2VcZ-GnVkv_K8VJUKwMJRJpN4dqAYh4VSEaKJj9Zl95j2pWFJz_QSoUvcHAVt9Ee5Kw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-39539767617588916692011-04-29T06:46:00.000-07:002011-04-29T07:22:14.989-07:00Moving Scene - BlockingFinally onto the blocking then!<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwoBhjiXlJGc_xXLKGy5yqE1zfP_ETjU8_iGAiLUfsxP9StHoCdbdSBZ9bFyAjnS2WQy_fLciUjImadUUn4gA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>So playing around with what I had done for my final thumbnails I transfered that information into the posing of the characters. Some twining and moments of long periods without inbetween poses but for now off to a good start!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dz5WcoSSbkBKcKnEpOqJcF_PRz66oPr5klXuTvhyxXiwZHidht31HZCXz1DYkVMSZKjmyMsH0dlfRvUhX_axQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>For the next period I concentrated on looking at Dave and refining some of his posing. So looking at blocking through to curves and further down the line to polishing. </div><div><br /></div><div>The blog currently contains his work on Open Season 2 whereby he's animating on Boog the bear. A must look at if you have any interest in animation what so ever, its basically a behind the scenes of how he approaches his animations, really interesting and a good watch.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlU4bILXzfR2dRb1Q9sU15-Qx4n-zL5hhLRGi_yxlZ-MYUCx-0FVyR3L16mWqmKCPw-GHFuhZVsftkFV-hDnDtWxeGkq045v5mlwVkaPu-5AnsE0Gc-D5DseO2kP2uMtb7tNPk0ber/s400/09+Alan+Camilo.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5600792658637329282" /></div><div><br /></div><div> <a href="http://www.alancamilo.com/">http://www.alancamilo.com/</a></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Evzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07350572290413715835noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5422366961181540365.post-4460508440478291152011-04-28T17:08:00.000-07:002011-04-28T17:10:57.262-07:00Pre-production done!
